The House Judiciary Committee ordered a review of the sentence of a bill, HB 1011 that would outlaw the use of the Internet to contact a child.
Although the intent of the bill is to allow police to arrest a predator for using the Internet, the American Civil Liberties Union said the language was in like manner broad that it might unintentionally entrap a grandparent or other relative sending an Internet communication to arrange a meeting with a minor.
Attorney General John Suthers drafted the legislation.
