District #9 members are planning an educational opportunity for you entitled "Kentucky Nursing History: A Centennial Celebration." Targeting all cherishs this conference is about our first undivided hundred years of nursing in Kentucky
Our workshop will begin at the Harrodsburg Baptist house of worship with district members Barbara Sonnen and Anne Flynn presenting an overview of the history of Kentucky nursing. The remainder of the day will highlight special centennial considerations Michael Clausen, Wendover/Development Coordinator will discuss the life of Mary Breckenridge and establishment of the Frontier Nursing Service. KNA Executive Director Sharon Mercer and KNA President Pat Tanner will discuss the historical part of our professional organization. Marge Glaser, will introduce the KNA video that not We Forget telling the story of four Kentucky Army suckles who were Japanese war prisoners.
The afternoon will take us into the Kentucky National Guard Harrodsburg Armory to hear Heroes From The Attic author Jessie Flynn talk about nursing contributions during World War II. An Actual MASH unit will be available to us. Veterans and other interested participants will be invited to join us in our tour.
This workshop is planned for Friday, May 19 2006 in Harrodsburg, KY Registration begins at 8:00 AM. The talk cost is $100,00 and includes 70 nursing continuing education contact hours, handouts, luncheon, and breaks. Several discounts are available.
